        One Room Challenge: Week 1

As an interior designer, I spend my days helping clients bring their visions to life. My energy is constantly directed toward creating beautiful, functional spaces for others, but when it comes to my own home, finding that same time and passion can be a real struggle. Life moves fast—juggling work, motherhood, and everything in between means my personal projects often take a back seat.

        But not this time.

With a little push from the One Room Challenge in partnership with Apartment Therapy, I’ve decided it’s finally time to tackle a space that’s been begging for attention: our breakfast area, which also serves as the ultimate drop-off zone. It’s a part of our home that sees so much action, yet feels overlooked and underutilized.

So here’s the challenge—over the next 8 weeks, I’ll be transforming this space into something that not only works for our family but also looks and feels just as intentional as the rooms I design for my clients. I’ll be sharing every step of the process: the mood boards, the DIY wins (and fails), and of course, the final reveal.

        BEFORE:

This area does double duty as our mud room/breakfast room. The dilemma is how to make this both functional and beautiful.

        Week 1:Concept

I created a 2D concept board to help me get an idea of the direction and vibe.
